Slimmer workout



If you have been trying to lose your love handles for quite a while now, then you probably know that there is more to weight loss than the simple theory of burning more than you eat.


Try this three steps to shape up body, you will burn as much as by jogging and firm every inch of flab.

  1. Foosball ball Kick: Stand holding a lighter dumbbell in each hand and bend elbows to bring weights near rib cage, palms facing each other. Keeping weights tucked by ribs throughout move, tighten abs as you lift bent right knee up to hip height, then kick forward with right foot. quickly alternate front and rear kicks until you've done 10 of each legs.

  2. Stork stand with curl: Stand on right leg with left leg bent behind you, holding a heavier weight in each hand, palms facing fronts of thighs. Lean slightly forward from hips for balance. Bend elbows to slowly curl weights to chest level, palms facing floor. Lower weights to start. Do 12 reps. Switch legs; repeat.

  3. Reverse lunge with T-raise: Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a heavier weight in each hand, arms by sides. Take a giant step back with right leg and sink into a lunge so both knees are bent 90 degrees as you raise arms straight out to sides at shoulder level, palms facing floor. Hold for one count, then lower arms as you step right foot forward to return to start position. Do 12 repeats.

Romantic dinner under 300 calories

Feel like surprising your man, but taking him out to dinner could cost you around $150, plus a restaurant isn't as intimate as your place? believe me, I've there done that...


With a few easy inexpensive ingredients you could turn your living room into a five start steak house. Make sure your parents or roommates aren't home for the night.


I'm going to show you a very easy recipe that not only will cost you less than $50 but it's also under 300 calories. Yummy!



Pan-Seared Filet Mignon with Red-Wine sauce:

-2 Filet Mignon (about 1 1/2 inches thick each)


-1/2 cup Low-sodium beef broth


-1/2 cup of red wine (same one you are planing to drink with the meal)

-1 Tablespoon shallots, minced

-1 teaspoon flour

-1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

-1 Tablespoon unsalted butter

-green beans

-tomatoes

-salt and pepper



In a bowl, mix broth, red wine, shallots, flour and mustard. Heat a heavy-duty skillet oven medium-high heat. Season steaks with salt and pepper, then sear for 3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Transfer to a plate, and tent with foil. Pour wine mixture into hot pan, and bring to broil for 1 minute. Stir in butter and parsley, ad broil 1 to 2 minutes. Pour sauce over steaks and serve. Add green beans and tomatoes as a side as well as decoration.

Men have faster metabolism than Women


It is a fact, and I have to ask for an explanation to my God Almighty... why do men lose weight faster than women?

In lack of an answer I googled my anger out and found that indeed, men have a faster metabolism than woman. In fact men have two major weight-loss advantages.


  1. Body Composition: It enables them to to burn calories at a faster rate than women. Men are biologically programed to have higher amounts of lean mass or muscle.

  2. Activity: men tend to be more active than their female counterparts. Even when they rest men burn more calories. (not fare)

According to the book "Habits of Health" by Dr. Wayne Andersen. The female body was designed for pregnancy, life giving and providing food to its offspring. Females have fewer muscles, and therefore, burn fewer calories.

In addition testosterone levels are important to weight loss, again, men have advantage in this department than women.

Reason not to eat MacDonald's




If you consider yourself a healthy person there is not reason why you should find yourself at a MacDonald's drive-thru. Even if its 2 a.m. in the morning and you just left a bar with your friends... (oops)

If one of your reasons is that MacDonald's is cheap, I have a cheaper way to eat healthier and cheaper cheeseburgers: If you buy a package of hamburger bread (12 buns), beef patties (12 ) and any type of cheese (20 slices) you spend an average of $16 giving you a total of 12 cheeseburgers. Now at MacDonald's dollar menu that would cost including tax an average of $18, and whole lot more calories.

Here are only a few reasons not to eat at MacDonald's:

  1. You would have to walk seven hours straight to burn off a super sized coke, fries and Big Mac.

  2. The processed fat in MacDonald's food promotes endothelial dysfunction for up to five hours after eating the meal.

  3. High blood pressure, a chicken sandwich will give you 2/3 more of the recommended daily sodium intake.

Most people are familiar with the movie "Super Size Me" made back in 2003 and nominated for an Academy Award for best Documentary. if you have not seen it, check it out.

Should pregnat women diet??


Have you notice that ever since America went through an economy recession more and more people are having babies? Like the baby boom we had back in the 50's.
Well lately I've found myself shopping at BabiesRus more often. No I'm not pregnant, but I've been invited to four baby showers in less than two months.


Crazy ugh?... I'm only 24. I hope this is not telling me that I'm the next one hosting a baby shower. Well just in case, I suggest all women should know about pregnancy diets, so that post-pregnancy baby fat isn't so hard to get rid of.


There is not especial diet for pregnant women, but eating a healthy balanced diet that gives all the nutrients for your baby. For the first three months the diet should be high on in calcium, and for the rest of the pregnancy women need extra protein. foods high in protein.


Woman wrongly think that they have to eat for two, WRONG, According to the woman's hospital in Boston, pregnant woman should avoid eating for two since too much weight gain is linked with with complications at birth.


Here are some prenatal DONTS :
  1. Eating Unsafe foods. Like raw fish. Can be dangerous for the baby

  2. Skipping breakfast. Try a whole-grain English muffin with 2 teaspoon of nut butter, a banana and a glass of non-fat milk.

  3. Getting to much caffeine. Could make it hard for the fetus to metabolized.

  4. Satisfying carvings with wrong foods. Instead of a bowl of ice cream try a non-fat bowl of yogurt.

I've work in the restaurant business for the past five years and it strikes me when I see that most parents order the most greasy meals for the little ones.

MSN news just released an article about the 20 worst kids foods, and It really caught my attention since I don't understand why parents care so less about their children's food.

There is nothing wrong with giving kids treats such as ice cream, candy or fried food when either they are behaving well or getting good grades, BUT, every time you take them out to a restaurant shouldn't be as unhealthy as it seems to be.

In a typical all American restaurant the kids menu is made up with:
  • Grilled cheese/ bacon optional: 440 calories, total fat 31%
  • Cheese burger: 359 calories, total fat 30%
    Hot dog: 242 calories, total fat 22%
  • Chicken strips: 200 calories, total fat 15% ( two pieces)


As a result, childhood obesity in America has tripled since 1980. Check Obesity rates. And since obesity increases the odds of a heart attack, consider the impact of an entire generation of overweight children. "our future."

The South Beach Diet


When I think of diets, The “South Beach” one always pops up in my head, although, I've never been familiar with it, I often hear woman mention its great results. So here I'm sharing with you what’s so popular about this particular diet.


I visited The South Beach diet web page to find an answer, I encounter my self with a “gift” for beginners, which includes, a free weight loss plan: all you have to do is answer a few questions about you height, weight, age and body type, then they will calculate what kind of steps you need in order to reach your goal.
Great but I still didn’t know what The South Beach Diet is all about, so I kept looking and found that: South Beach Diet teaches a way of life where you rely on the right carbohydrates and fats. This new way of eating allows you to live contently without eating the bad carbohydrates and fats. In contrast, when a person eats bad carbohydrates and fats they feel hungrier, causing them to eat more, which causes weight gain. The diet promises an 8 to 13 pound weight loss in just two weeks!

There are basically three phases in SB Diet:


  1. First phase: You eat normal portion sizes, but all carbohydrate is restricted. This is the strictest phase in the diet and will last for two weeks. It emphasizes lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, fish, and shellfish. Low-Glycemic-index vegetables are allowed as well as low-fat cheese, nuts, and eggs. Dieters should expect to lose somewhere between 8 to 12 pounds.

  2. Second phase: Some of the banned foods are slowly introduced while weight loss continues to around 1 to 2 pounds per week. You should remain on it until you lost your desired amount of weight.

  3. Third Phase: It’s all about, maintenance and should be followed for life. It’s all about maintaining your desired weight with a healthy balanced diet. Should your weight begin to climb, simply return to the first phase.

All kinds of sodas in general are very high on sugars and chemicals that not only make you fat but unhealthy too. (Especially the dark ones.)

LA Fitness: where fitness is a way of life



I’ll start by assuring you that LA Fitness is not paying me to advertise them, though I should be get at least a month for free.
I’d like to share with you my dear bloggers, my loyalty and satisfaction towards this magnificent gym. I’ve been working out at LA Fitness for a little more than a year. Every night I go and walk through the door, I feel the good vibes among employees and clients. As I was walking trough Palm Beach Garden’s mall I found myself staring on a shoe store’s window (not Aldo), where the main item advertised was Sketcher’s shape up shoes! The latest invention on fitness outwear .Although they are sore of dorky looking, they are heavier than most athletic shoes, so you will burn little more calories per mile, as you simply walk.

They basically work by putting you off balance.


The heel is set slightly lower than normal shoes and the bottom of the shoe is curved, so your muscles are constantly working to keep you balanced.

Benefits of wearing shape ups:
  • Promote weight loss: if you lace them up and get moving while also watching your diet.
  • Reduce cellulite and tone thighs: walking in these shoes is allegedly great for the thighs
  • Firm buttocks muscles.
  • Improve posture.

Prices run from $110 to $140 depending on the model but if you go to Amazon there are offers from $98.

As shape ups become more popular, more colors and styles coming out to the market, not only there are shape ups sneakers but sandals, boots, flip-flops and more.

Whether they work or not, still remains as a question. Many people assure they have great results while many others disagree.

How to avoid Halloween candy overindulgence



Halloween is getting closer and closer and we all know this frightening, yet fun celebration is all about the delightful treats no one can resist to.

After we reach certain age the main concern on Halloween night is trying not to fall in the sweet temptation of candy, but don’t worry all it takes is a little thinking and pre-planning.

Tricks to resist temptation:
  • Wait to the last minute to buy the candy you are planning to give out to the neighborhood kids, that way you don’t fall into the temptation to eat them all.
  • Try not to buy goodies you can’t resist, so if you are crazy about m&ms buy lollipops instead.
  • After Halloween night is over, toss out the leftovers, that way you don’t have them haunting you the following days.
  • Chew gum: Sugarless gum gives your mouth a burst of sweet sensation for very few calories.

If you think it would be impossible to resist the goodies, plan a 911 workout session. Hit the gym and try these steps for 45 minutes on the treadmill.

  1. Warm up and walk easily for 3 minutes
  2. Power walk for 2 minutes
  3. Run fast for 4 minutes
  4. Repeat step 1 and 2: 8 times
  5. Cool down walk 2 minutes

Which is your body type?

The first step to rock an outfit is by identifying your body type!!! As hard as it may be to admit it, no body is perfect!! So let try to do our best...
Whether you are petite or curvy lady, I'm sure there are many ways to make your style fit into your body type.

As I grew older, I discovered a slight difference between some of my friend’s bodies and mine: My hips were somehow bigger than theirs, not fat just bigger. I was a 14 years old girl trapped into an 18 years old woman; the only good thing about it was that I had older guys’ attention!!! at least that was a good thing back then.
Now, I want you look at yourself in the mirror and do a little analysis, (be honest) and classify you body as:


1. Pear: Curvaceous hips with a tapered, small waist:

-wear straight-leg or pencil skirt with heels, since the bottom is wider you should create more width and volume to your shoulders and chest. shorts aren't the best choice for you.





2. Apple: full chest, little waist definition, small hips?

-Try deep V necks to slim down your chest,soft fabrics for a girlie look. floral patterns that add more width to her hips.







3. Banana: Flat chest, not so curvier? slim..

-Choosing pants with well-placed pockets is great way to add attention to certain areas.. You can get away with large and wide blouses and still look slim.







4. orange: big bones, round face, large trunk and thighs?


-Wear solid dark colors like black, navy, dark purple and Wear bright colors or patterns on your hot spots to draw attention away from your trouble spots.

Don't go this far....Losing weight is not worth losing your life

I like to start by explaining that my blog will NOT incentivize girls to do just anything to look thin, rather I’m going to recommend different ways you can look slimmer as well as healthy, and that’s why my first post will expose the consequences of losing too much weight the wrong way.

I moved to the states from my natal Colombia when I was 16 years old, “such complicated age” grandma used to tell me. Indeed, as a matter of fact, once girls turn 13 body image becomes the most important issue in our lives, and we are driven to do whatever it takes to fit in. Well for me the struggle with body weight begun as I gained close to 10 pounds only six months after I moved here. As more teenagers I wasn’t immune to peer pressure, so in order for me to lose weight, I consulted my terrible crisis with a friend, instead of telling my own mother; ( by the way she is my best friend).

I started to take “diet pills” my friend gave me and also begun to skip meals. … Luckily my mom found out before I could even finish the 50 capsules I was suppose to take. Just like mine there are millions of cases every year, sadly not all parents watch their kids the way my mom did with me!!! Please note. I could have easily become an anorexic.
