The myth about low calorie drinks...watch out, 1 gm of alcohol has 7 calories.

TGIF! you are off the clock and ready for happy hour... Hold it; I haven't been searching the best ways to stay thin so that you go and ruin it in less than 2 hours...no way. However, with a little planning, you can avoid diet disaster, and there are some alcoholic drinks that are relatively low in calories.

I have been bar-tending for the past five years, and let me tell you something. I have not yet understand, why is it that most women won’t eat a piece of cake, still they dink between four to five glasses of wine or cocktails in a single night.

If you want to find out about the best low calorie drinks, then you are in the right place.

Top three low calorie liquor drinks:

Vodka-club soda splash of cranberry juice:

The Vodka and Cranberry is a very popular cocktail, but juice can pack the calories and sugar on. Switch it out with a tiny splash of cranberry light and the calories stay off, making this drink a winner at 140 calories.

2. Cosmopolitan:

The Cosmopolitan can be made easily. A Cosmopolitan is four parts vodka, two parts triple sec, two parts cranberry juice (use light), and one part lime juice for a tasty low calorie treat.150 calories

3. Mojitos:

This low calorie alcoholic drink is making a popular comeback. A properly made Mojito has only 160 calories and 15 grams of sugar, and it is a tasty treat. Use brown sugar for fewer calories.

Fitness Magazine has a variety low calorie drink recipes, check them out and throw your own low calorie party!

Try to avoid the following:

  • Drinks with heavy in cola
  • frozen/creamy drinks (pina coladas, apple martinis)
  • mixers (eggnog, red bull)

Beer Belly: You can easily exceed 500 plus calories once you start drinking more than two bottles of almost any brand of beer.

Missthinwallet tip: Although red wine is delicious and healthy, you are better off with whites if possible, spritzers this gives you less alcohol but more volume to drink.

Cheers,
